Creating Lifelong Communities
Laura Keys and Carolyn Rader - Community Development, Aging Services Division, ARC
The recent nine-day Lifelong Communities Charette hosted by ARC in partnership with DPZ & Company, focused on how communities can become places where people of all ages and abilities can live as long as they would like. Building on this charette and with the recognition that it is not possible to meet the needs of the growing older adult population with supportive programs or innovations in healthcare alone, this session will examine the design and the built environments of two Atlanta Housing Authority high rises and the ability of these communities to support lifelong community principles.

  • Civic Engagement: Listen to a volunteer share her experiences.
  • Mental Health Collaborations: Hear about the good things that happen when the mental health community and the aging network work together.
